The AHLE-X General Management Professional Development Programme runs over a one-week period in Cape Town, South Africa.

The programme is designed to enable you to:

  • Experience – working in industry in Cape Town in a 4-5 star hotel alongside other General Managers and Food and Beverage Managers, gaining industry exposure and valuable network contacts.
  • Explore – Cape Town and surrounds including local attractions, various restaurants and specialised tours.
  • Expand – your knowledge of industry and leadership through a series of seminars held by key speakers who are experts in their fields.

You will leave inspired with new ideas, new contacts and new skills.

Who will benefit from the programme?

The AHLE-X programme has been designed for General Managers working in the Hospitality Industry that desire to gain more insight into Strategic Hotel Operations in a City that is the tourist capital of South Africa. The programme is recommended for (but not limited to) the following roles:

  • General Managers

  • Resident Managers

  • Assistant General Managers

The following programme outline provides you with an overview of the one-week professional development programme that you will follow whilst in Cape Town:

On arrival

You will be collected from the airport and transported to your accommodation.

Week one

You will attend:

One full day workshop:

  • Strategic management

Four half day workshops:

  • Hospitality Marketing and Sales
  • Strategic Customer Experience Management
  • Strategic Food and Beverage Management
  • Rooms Revenue Management

Hosted industry placement

You will be hosted for 2 days to work in a 4 or 5 star hotel in Cape Town working alongside one general Manager for a full day and another General Manager for a half day. You will also work with a Food and Beverage Manager for a half day.

Restaurant visits and Tours

As part of your programme, you will visit two top Cape Town Restaurants which will form the basis for a discussion on Creating the Customer Experience and you will be able to enjoy a half day City Tour of Cape Town.

Lunches and dinners

Lunch will be provided on weekdays either in industry or during workshops.

Dinner will be provided on two evenings during the programme.

Your facilitators

During your stay your programme will be managed by hands-on facilitators who have hospitality and training management experience. You will be accompanied on all field trips and they will be at-hand to assist you with whatever you need during your two-week stay in Cape Town.

Discussion and feedback discussion session

At the end of your programme you will attend a discussion and feedback session where group members have an opportunity to network, share experiences, reflect on their learning and plan their actions arising out of their programme in preparation for their return to their business units.

Departure

You will be transported from your hotel to the airport at the end of your two-week experience.

What is included

The following:

  • Airport shuttles to and from your accommodation

  • Your attendance at all workshops

  • Discussion and feedback sessions

  • Transport to and from your industry placement/seminars to your accommodation

  • Tours

  • All lunches during the week

What is not included

  • Your accommodation

  • Your flights

  • Dinners during the week on evenings off and all alcoholic beverages

  • Your personal entertainment

  • Transport unrelated to programme activities

Programme cost

The cost of the programme is R16900.00 payable as follows:

  • 30% non-refundable deposit which is payable upon registration

  • The balance is payable 30 days prior to the start of the programme

Accommodation, flights, meals and spending money

Accommodation

Accommodation has purposely not been included as delegates may work for Hotel Groups that operate in Cape Town and hence can source reasonable accommodation.

AHLE-X has negotiated discounted rates for delegates, to find out more please click here for further information. 

Flights

Flight bookings also need to be made and paid for directly by the delegate.

Spending money

During the programme you have one day off and there are evenings where you are free and need to cater for dinner on your own. It is estimated that you will need an additional R2000.00 for meals during the programme. If staying for the additional 4 days of industyr placement, you will have one day off and you will need to cater for your own needs on this day. You may also wish to bring additional spending money to take additional tours, visit tourist attractions or shop!
